I am Canadian!

So proud to be living in this country.

We not only rocked it on the ice against the U.S. and got a gold in men's hockey tonight, but throughout the olympics, we have received the most gold medals won in winter olympic history.
That's something to be proud of.

Hopefully all Canadian athletes are celebrating right now, whether they got a gold medal or came in 10th, because today is a day filled with pride and joy for (most) of the people living in this country.

Congratulations Canadian 2010 Winter Olympic Athletes, you're all amazing.

Love.

I've been sitting here for 20 minutes stuck in the process of typing a post, then deleting it all.

I'm bummed out. I'm lonely. I'm tired.
I guess I'll try to sleep it off.

Team Canada.

What an amazing day for Canadian Olympic athletes yesterday!

A) We beat Russia 7-3 in the quarter-finals. We haven't defeated Russia in fifty years, holla!
B) We won both silver AND gold in women's bobsled.
C) We got bronze in women's 5000m speed skating.

WHADDUP.

Tonight, our women's hockey team is playing the goal medal game against the U.S.
Tomorrow, it is Canada vs. Slovakia in the men's hockey semifinals.

Good luck, ladies and gentlemen!

Oh hey.

I don't have much to say.
So I'll give you a little news update.

- Team Canada decided to use Luongo instead of Brodeur as their goalie when they play against Germany. Good choice.
- The students whose ship sank in Brazil, who spent 40 hours waiting to be rescued, are back in Toronto. All of them survived.
- Doctors want to change the shape of hotdogs. They say that their shape is a chocking hazard and that they should be "redesigned."
- "Giant George" is the world's tallest dog. He's a great dane who stands at 3 feet and 7 inches from paw to shoulder. Check it out, he's huge. (http://media.thestar.topscms.com/images/1b/d9/0f2558b54bd7a7488e76fc769cfa.jpeg)
- Tiger Woods publicly apologized for his 'sexual misconduct'.
- A baby was born on a plane, and the parents want the baby to be baptized on that same plane.

(Notice how none of these are negative or depressing.. you're welcome! :)

Home is where the heart is.

After a five hour greyhound ride, and an hour-long subway/ttc ride, I am back in my Toronto home.
Nobody's here yet, so it's super quiet and kinda lonely.

I have so much homework to do, because I barely did any during reading week, go figure. So I should probably get to that.

Rant.

I am a person who values respect.
It's simple, really:

Appreciate what people do for you, and say thanks if someone goes out of their way to do something to help you out.
Don't blurt out stupid or ignorant comments, especially in front of people you barely know.
And get to know somebody before you judge them.

I don't care if you're drunk, high or sober, respecting not only people, but also property & belongings should be something that comes naturally.

In the words of Aretha Franklin:
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me.

These streets will make you feel brand new.

These past two days have been amazing.

Yesterday, Matt & I had a "Valentine's Day Part II." Even though I am absolutely awful at skating, we went skating on the canal and it was super fun. He held my hand the whole time because I was afraid to fall.. ha. Then we went to go see 'Dear John' and I cried three or four times because I'm a huge baby. After the movie we came back to my place and laid in my bed while listening to Dallas Green. Perfect night.

& Today, I got an AMAZING text from my friend Lizz. It read, "Wanna come to the science and tech. museum?" For those of you who read this (if anybody does) and aren't familiar with this museum, it's located in Ottawa, and pretty much every elementary school kid from Ottawa will visit this place at least once. They have trains that you can go in, a space station, a 'crazy kitchen' that's all tilted and stuff, and some amazing tunnel things that are multi-coloured and sit like ten feet in the air. It's pretty wicked. Then we went to Subway, and decided to go see 'Invictus' at Rainbow for $2. It was a pretty sweet movie, not gonna lie.

Now I'm back home and my nasal passage is super dry. I've been drinking so much water today, so I don't really understand. But anyways, that is what's new in the life of Ashlee.

I'm gonna go do some readings now, since I haven't done much homework yet.

Inspirational.

I totally teared up when I saw this.

i haven't posted in a long time.

So here I am, writing a blog post!

Yesterday, as we all know, was Valentine's Day. I could not have asked for a better person to spend my entire day with. In all honesty, I have the best boyfriend on the planet.

Thank you, Matt, for being there to support me in all that I do, to care for me, to hug me and tell me that everything will work out when I'm feeling down, to grow with me, to laugh with (or at) me, to compliment me when I feel like crap, to let me practice my speech while sitting on your lap until I feel fully comfortable with it, to massage me when my back hurts, and most importantly, to love me with your entire heart. ♥ You are perfect. I love you.

Happy Belated Valentine's Day Everyone! (& Happy Family Day!)

I'll Be - Edwin McCain

The strands in your eyes that colour them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath
And emeralds from mountains thrust toward the sky
Never revealing their depth
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated
I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above

I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love's suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

And rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed
You're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive, not dead
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated
I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above

I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love's suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

And I've dropped out, I've burned up, I've fought my way back from the dead
I've tuned in, turned on, remembered the things that you said

I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love's suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your...
I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love's suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

The greatest fan of your life.
...Greatest fan of your life.

Strike.

So. If Ontario college faculty and OPSEU do not come to an agreement before February 11th, all Ontario Colleges will be going on strike. Technically the strike wouldn't start until February 15th or 16th (because they need to give us a 5 day heads up), but that still means we'd be out of school for however long it takes them (probably around two-three weeks). What's even better is that I don't even go to an Ontario college, but rather an Ontario university located on college grounds..

What a cherry on top of my already awful Monday.

Love.
